Reinitzer in 1888, and research on it was popular in the 1930s. Later, it lost people's attention due to the lack of application. The research on the application of liquid crystals began in the 1960s when G.H. Heilmeier of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) discovered that the transparent thin layer of nematic liquid crystals would exhibit turbidity (i.e. electro-optic effect) when electrified, and used the specific properties of liquid crystal optics to measure temperature and pressure, which were subsequently applied to display devices. The dynamic scattering mode (DSM) discovered by American scientist G.H. Heilmeir has greatly promoted the development of liquid crystal displays (LCDs). Since then, many researchers have devoted themselves to finding new liquid crystal display modes and striving to improve their performance. In the 1970s, guest host (GH) mode, phase transition (PC) mode, and electrically controlled birefringence (ECB) mode emerged successively. Taking this as a turning point, research on liquid crystals has once again become active. LCD (liquid crystal display) reached a substantial practical stage around 1980. As applications such as numbers, text, graphics, and television displays, they have penetrated into most fields of production and consumption. 02 A liquid crystal display is a liquid crystal cell made of two conductive glass sheets, with strict technical requirements for the production process. Box making technology is one of the key technologies for manufacturing liquid crystal displays. A liquid crystal cell is composed of two glass substrates separated by a few microns. There is a layer of indium tin oxide (ITO) or indium oxide (In2O3) transparent electrode on the inner surface of these glass substrates. Liquid crystal material is filled between the two substrates, and the orientation of liquid crystal molecules is adjusted to a certain state by appropriate treatment of the electrode surface. 03 The manufacturing of liquid crystal cells is carried out in a clean room environment, and can be roughly divided into processes such as cleaning and drying, photolithography, orientation and alignment, box making, cutting, liquid crystal infusion, visual inspection, electrical measurement, surface mounting, lead up, packaging, etc. The production line from cleaning to liquid crystal infusion is also known as the pre process, and the production line from visual inspection to packaging is also known as the post process. The formation of the liquid crystal molecular orientation layer is an important step in determining the performance and quality of the device throughout the entire process. 04 In the manufacturing process of liquid crystal displays, the thickness and size of the liquid crystal cell generally need to be strictly selected in order to ensure that the thickness of the liquid crystal layer meets the design requirements and to achieve the specific display mode required by the liquid crystal display.
